Elected chair of the Little Hoover Commission on March 22, 2007. Retired president of Shapell Industries of Northern California since 1985. Former director and past president of the Southern Division Building Industry Association (BIA), former member of the boards of the National Conference of Christians and Jews, the San Ramon Library Foundation, and past chairman and founding director of the San Jose Sports Authority. Appointed to the Little Hoover Commission by Assembly Speaker Cruz Bustamante on July 31, 1997. Re-appointed by Assembly Speaker Robert M.
